In recent years I have developed a series of botanical prints and drawings inspired by the Japanese philosophical tradition of 'finding the universe in a blade of grass.’ Turning my gaze inward to my own garden, I’ve documented the sculptural species cultivated within my home garden and its immediate surrounds. I’ve also been exploring the best medium for that wonderful contrast of dense black to the coloured form. For this work, I’ve meticulously studied and documented from life, every part of this bowl of raspberry cane and strawberries, drawing them first at a 1:1 scale in pencil on paper, then scanning and digitally colouring in Procreate
